LAWRENCEVILLE -- A Norcross man is scheduled for a jury trial next week on charges he fatally stabbed a man at a Duluth bakery in December.
Son Hoang, 29, is accused of stabbing Vu Quang Lu, 24, of Lawrenceville, during a confrontation at Cafe Mozart Bakery off Pleasant Hill Road.
Authorities said Lu was having coffee with Hoang's ex-girlfriend that night.
Hoang approached the pair, and an argument ensued. The spat escalated to fighting, and Hoang pulled a knife and stabbed the victim several times in the chest, police said at the time.
Lu was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center where he later died. Hoang fled, police said, but turned himself in to authorities about 90 minutes later.
A Gwinnett County Grand Jury indicted Hoang in March on counts of murder, felony murder and aggravated assault. He remains at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond.
Superior Court Judge William Ray is scheduled to preside in the trial.
