PREP ROUNDUP: Norcross gets first win of year

SNELLVILLE — Norcross won its first game of the season by beating St. Pius 4-0 Wednesday in the South Gwinnett pool of the Brookwood Invitational.

Alexandra Foulke pitched a five-hit shutout to get the win. Dearica Hamby hit a three-run homer, while Kelly Quigley went 2-for-3 with the other RBI.


Parkview 11, Dunwoody 0

LILBURN — Parkview handed Dunwoody an 11-0 loss on Wednesday as part of the Parkview pool of the Brookwood Invitational.

Caitlin McClure took care of things with her arm and her bat. McClure (3-2) allowed one hit and struck out seven in four shutout innings. She also had one of the Panthers’ (9-5) 15 hits. Katie Block (2-for-3) scored three times, Sarah Coker (2-for-4) drove in three runs, Molly McClure (1-for-2) knocked in two runs, and Morgan Robinson (2-for-4) had one RBI.

Mountain View 7, Archer 4

LAWRENCEVILLE — Mountain View beat Archer 7-4 in the Archer pool of the Brookwood Invitational on Wednesday.

Summer Spataro had three hits and two runs for the Tigers (4-13-1). Kaylee Hennelly had two hits and an RBI. Meghan Tonneson also had two hits and added two runs. Lindsay Baxter added two RBIs.

Collins Hill 5, Buford 3

SUWANEE — Collins Hill held off Buford 5-3 in the Collins Hill pool of the Brookwood Invitational on Wednesday. The game was called after six innings because of the time limit.

Kayla Floor (9-1) pitched a complete game to get the win. Floor allowed three runs on one hit and struck out six. Mckenzie Halstead led the Eagles (15-1-1) with three hits, two doubles, and two RBIs. Chelsea Littlejohn (2-for-3) drove in two runs, while Christina Parham (2-for-2) scored twice.

Buford 11, Whitewater 2

SUWANEE — Buford rallied to win its second game of the day at the Brookwood Invitational by beating Whitewater 11-2. The game was called after six innings because of the time limit.

Karly Fullem went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs to lead the Wolves (13-4). Lexi Overstreet also drove in two runs with two hits. Chelsie Thomas (2-for-3) scored three times and drove in a run. Kara Cole (2-for-2) added an RBI. Melissa Dickie (6-3) gave up six hits and struck out three to get the win.

North 4, Ola 2

SUWANEE — North Gwinnett defeated Ola 4-2 Wednesday in the Brookwood Invitational at North. Kelsey Summers (2-for-3) drove in three of the four runs for the Bulldogs (14-4-1). Caroline Rogers (2-for-3) drove in the other run. Emily Wood (5-2) allowed four hits in three innings to get the win.

Grayson 9, Hillgrove 1

LOGANVILLE — Kanani Cabrales had three hits, an RBI, and struck out four hitters in two perfect innings in relief to lead Grayson to a 9-1 win against Hillgrove on Wednesday. The game was played at Loganville as part of the Brookwood Invitational.

The Rams (10-4-1) pounded out 15 hits. Taylor Denton had three of them, along with two runs scored, a stolen base, and an RBI. Courtney Lee drove in two runs. Shelby Smith and Rachel McElroy each had two hits.

Oconee Co. 5, Mill Creek 0

DACULA — Mill Creek lost to Oconee 5-0 in the Brookwood Invitational played at Dacula on Wednesday. Shannon Quinn was 1-for-2 for the Hawks (12-4). Nikki Sagermann and Jackee West each added hits.

Peachtree Ridge 5, Apalachee 1

SUWANEE — Sarah Walker pitched a complete game, allowing one run and three hits to lead Peachtree Ridge over Apalachee 5-1 Wednesday.

Sam Pierannunzi went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs scored for the Lions (11-10). Chandler Frisbie drove in two runs with a double. Andie McGregor added two hits and an RBI.
