Schools invited to participate in food drive
LAWRENCEVILLE — The Atlanta Falcons have once again partnered with Publix and the Atlanta Community Food Bank for its annual FalCan Food Drive.
Before the Falcons game against the Tamp Bay Buccaneers on Nov. 7, fans are encouraged to donate canned food items or make a monetary donation to benefit the Atlanta Community Food Bank’s mission to be a resource for underserved communities.
This year, schools are invited to get involved to help fight hunger. The FalCan Food Drive School Challenge is an opportunity for up to 40 schools to collect canned food and nonperishable items between Oct. 4 and 18 for the chance to win Falcons prizes.
Registration is open through Monday. It is limited to the first 40 schools in Georgia to register.
All participating schools will receive a special group ticket offer to the Nov. 7 game and a mention listed on the Atlanta Falcons website, www.atlantafalcons.com.
The three schools that collect the most items, by pound, will be announced Oct. 28. The first-, second- and third-place winners will receive 60, 50 and 25 tickets, respectively, to the Nov. 7 game, as well as special recognition during the game.
Schools can register at www.atlantafalcons.com/2010-falcan-food-drive.
