Brookwood Invite hosts biggest field

The 18th annual Brookwood Invitational fastpitch softball tournament is bigger than ever.

A total of 40 teams will play at 15 locations in this week's tourney, which begins today at nine Gwinnett high schools and at Loganville. Brookwood, Central Gwinnett, Parkview, Peachtree Ridge, North Gwinnett, Dacula, Archer, Collins Hill and South Gwinnett will each host pool play today, with pool play continuing Friday and then medal play to follow on Saturday. Apalachee, South Forsyth, Mountain View and Norcross also will host pool play games on Friday.

The start times for Saturday's round begin at 8:40 a.m. with the last game scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.

Pool A at Brookwood

5:30 p.m. -- Brookwood vs. Allatoona

7 p.m. -- Flowery Branch vs. Allatoona

Pool B at

Central Gwinnett

5 p.m. -- Central Gwinnett vs. Eastside

6:30 p.m. -- GAC vs. East Coweta

Pool C at Parkview

5 p.m. -- Parkview vs. Dunwoody

6:30 p.m. -- Creekview vs. Dunwoody

Pool D at Peachtree Ridge

5 p.m. -- Peachtree Ridge vs. Apalachee

6 p.m. -- Jones County vs. Veterans (at Mercer)

Pool E at North Gwinnett

5 p.m. -- North Gwinnett vs. South Forsyth

6:30 p.m. -- North Gwinnett vs. Ola

Pool F at Dacula

5 p.m. -- Mill Creek vs. Oconee County

6:30 p.m. -- Dacula vs. Woodward Academy

Pool G at Archer

5 p.m. -- Archer vs. Mountain View

6:30 p.m. -- Archer vs. Northgate
