Best-selling author to visit library

LAWRENCEVILLE — Sara Gruen’s latest novel hit bookstore shelves last week, just in time for Gwinnett residents to pick up a copy before the New York Times-bestselling author makes an appearance in Lawrenceville on Thursday.

Gruen, author of the 2006 release “Water for Elephants,” will discuss her newest book, “Ape House,” during the Gwinnett County Public Library-sponsored Gwinnett Reads event at the Aurora Theatre.

“Ape House” is a 2010 Gwinnett Reads selection in which residents are invited to share the experience of reading the same book to engage in discussion.

“Ape House” follows a group of bonobos living in a lab that manage to escape following an explosion and become stars of a reality TV show, which prompts scientist and lab employee Isabel Duncan to attempt the rescue of these incredibly intelligent apes.

Thursday’s event will begin at 7 p.m. and is free to attend. Seating is limited and doors will open at 6:30.
