The 97 Georgia Impact 12U softball team was runner-up in the 12U (A) ASA National Tournament on Aug. 2-8 in Bloomington, Ind.
There were 101 teams from all over the nation in this tournament and the Impact posted an 8-2 record. Their two losses came against third-place finisher Team Anderson from Cypress, Calif., and tournament champion Orange County Bat Buasters from Orange County, Calif.
This was the highest finish of any 12U team in Georgia history in this tournament and is the largest and most competitive tournament for this age group.
Team members are Tessa Daniels, Stephanie Synder, Kylie Bass, Bria Bush, Jordan Deep, Shemiah Sanchez, Arden Jobe, Tessa Daniels, Brittani Crawford, Hannah Morris, Stephanie Snyder, Bailey Crawford, Morgan Kazerooni and Haleigh Vernon. The team is coached by Buster Bass and Chad Crawford.
Streng wins Little Mo East tourney
Duluth resident Vanessa Streng won the Little Mo East tournament at IMG/Bollettieri in Florida.
Top girls from the East coast all the way down to Florida and the Caribbean were invited to play to the tournament.

Mills places fifth
Akil Mills, a 2010 Grayson grad, placed fifth at the hammer event in a recent track and field meet. Mills is a freshman at Illinois State University.
