PEOPLE: Mayweather freed from jail

Mayweather freed from jail

LAS VEGAS — Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. was freed from a jail in Las Vegas after posting bail on a felony theft charge stemming from a domestic violence complaint by his ex-girlfriend.

The 33-year-old Mayweather said nothing as he left the Clark County jail Friday after surrendering for booking on a grand larceny charge. Bail was $3,000.

Mayweather’s lawyer, Richard Wright, said the charge stems from an allegation that Mayweather took an iPhone from Josie Harris, his ex-girlfriend and mother of three of his children.

Harris made a police complaint and sought a protection order Thursday from a Family Court judge.

She claims Mayweather hit her during a confrontation at her home in Las Vegas.

Wright denies Mayweather committed any crime.

Lady Gaga, producer pull dueling suits

NEW YORK — They may have had a bad romance, but now there’s an amicable professional split between Lady Gaga and a music producer who said she ditched him as both a collaborator and a boyfriend after he helped launch her career.

Court papers filed this week show the Grammy Award-winning ‘‘Bad Romance’’ singer and songwriter-producer Rob Fusari agreed to dismiss the lawsuits each filed against the other in March.

He’d sought $30.5 million, but it’s unclear whether they made any monetary deal. Lawyers for both sides and a Gaga spokesman didn’t immediately respond to phone and e-mail messages Friday.

Fusari had said the pop-meets-performance-art sensation shoehorned him out of her lucrative career after he co-wrote such Gaga hits as ‘‘Paparazzi’’ and ‘‘Beautiful, Dirty, Rich,’’ came up with her stage name and helped get her record deal.
