SNELLVILLE -- HGTV star and home design expert Vern Yip will herald the grand opening of a specialty furniture retailer this week at The Avenue Webb Gin.
I.O. Metro will celebrate its debut inside the Lawrenceville shopping plaza Tuesday, with Yip on hand from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. to greet customers and offer design advice.
Yip hosts his own show, "Deserving Design with Vern Yip," on HGTV and also appears in the prime time series "HGTV Design Star." He plans to launch a new TV special, "Urban Oasis," this fall.
"What better way to help introduce our fresh look and unique furniture and decor than with the support of one of Atlanta's own, Very Yip," said Jay Howard, CEO of I.O. Metro. "(He is) known for his great ideas and value-conscious designs."
I.O. Metro offers eclectic furniture, art, lighting and accessories, as well as custom upholstery options and complimentary in-home design services. Since launching in 2005, the company has expanded to 21 locations in eight states. The launch of The Avenue Webb Gin store will coincide with the openings of locations in Cumming and Marietta, the first time the company will open multiple stores simultaneously. This week's store openings will mark the company's debut in Georgia.
"After success in small and mid-size markets, we felt it was time to expand to a large city with multiple locations and The Avenue was a perfect fit for us," Howard said.
During the grand opening celebration Howard will discuss the company's plans for growth and I.O. Metro design consultants will discuss current and seasonal trends in home furnishings.
