Norris named National Pro Fastpitch’s top pitcher

• Brookwood grad Lisa Norris recently finished a successful summer in the National Pro Fastpitch league, the nation’s top circuit for women’s pro softball.

Norris, with the Akron Racers of Ohio, was named the NPF pitcher of the year in a league that includes standout pitchers like the legendary Jennie Finch and also was a first-team All-NPF selection for the second year in a row.

The former North Carolina standout led the league in wins (14), strikeouts (126), innings pitched (137), complete games (16) and shutouts (4). Her 1.73 ERA was second-best among NPF pitchers and was two spots ahead of Finch’s 2.02.

Norris made her NPF debut in 2009, going 12-8 with 99 strikeouts and 2.36 ERA.

With the season complete, Norris will begin her first season as an assitant fastpitch softball coach at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
