Joe Digby, age 92, of Snellville passed away Saturday, October 30, 2010. He was born in Atlanta GA and graduated Boys High School. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII in the medical core. He was a leader in many churches, civic, and business organizations during his life. He was the founder and president of Digby Opticians, and served as President of the Atlanta Civitian Club. Mr. Digby attended Snellville United Methodist Church and was a member of the Hancock Sunday School Class. He served as a Lay Minister for the North GA Conference. He loved nothing more than being with his family traveling, gardening, playing music, and working in his shop. His example of faith, family and love will live on through the lives of those who knew him. He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Dorothy Binkley Digby, his parents, his sister and brother. He is survived by his wife of 31 years Carolyn Adams Digby; Son, David Alan (Carol) Digby Sr.; son, Donald Joe (Marti) Digby; and daughter, Darlene Marie Digby, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He will be missed by them and many others in the community. A Service Celebrating the Life of Joe Digby will be held Monday, November 1, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel with Rev. Walker Jones and Dr. Herschel Sheets officiating. Interment Eternal Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Members of the Hancock Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Escort.
