William Edward Cheeley, Sr.
William Edward "Bill" Cheeley, Sr., age 84, of Buford, GA passed away Thursday, October 21, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Elbert Cheeley Sr. and Willi Jo Westbrook Cheeley; and grandchildren, Jennifer Lee Berry and Zachary Adam Benson. He is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Mrs. Jeanne DeSouze Cheeley, Buford, GA; daughters and son-in-law, Helen Cheeley Berry and husband, Bobby, Buford, GA and April Cheeley, Buford, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Barbara Cheeley, Flowery Branch, GA, William E. and Michelle Cheeley, Cumming, GA and John O'Brien, New Orleans, LA; twelve grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy Cheeley Willis and husband, Thomas, Cleveland, GA; brother, Judge Joseph E. Cheeley, Jr., Buford, GA; aunt, Gladys Westbrook Knox, Buford, GA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Cheeley was born April 7, 1926 in Buford, GA. He was a 1944 graduate of Sugar Hill High School in Sugar Hill, GA and was a 1952 graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology with a BS Degree in Industrial Engineering. He was president of Phi Kappa Sogma Fraternity, and President of Scabbard and Blade while at Ga Tech. He was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Army and he received a Purple Heart. He was a noted inventor credited with numerous patents while working for Reynold's Metals. He was a member of the Buford First United Methodist Church in Buford, GA. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Buford First United Methodist Church with Rev. Sondra Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford, GA with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Buford First United Methodist Church, P. O.
