LILBURN -- Emergency personnel responded Thursday to a natural gas leak that was quickly stopped, but shut down Five Forks Trickum Road well into the night, officials said.
Gwinnett County firefighters responded to the scene on the 4800 block of Five Forks Trickum Road and Maple Drive at approximately 5:24 p.m., finding a leak caused after a construction crew damaged a gas service line to a nearby home, spokesman Capt. Tommy Rutledge said.
Atlanta Gas Light crews were able to stop the leak just before 7 p.m., but, because crews had to dig up part of the roadway to do so, the road remained closed at press time Thursday night.
No evacuations were necessary, and no injuries were reported, Rutledge said.
