Missing teen found safe, then taken before juvenile judge

NORCROSS -- A Norcross teen missing since last month who phoned her mother to say that she was in danger is home safe, police said Monday.

Prior to Monday, the 15-year-old girl was last seen leaving her Newbury Road home Sept. 30.

Police grew concerned when she called her mother crying Thursday, said she was scared and could not leave where she was, police said.

Those were lies, said Norcross police Sgt. Bill Grogan.

"It appears the statements she was making to her parents were not accurate," he said. "It appears she simply ran away from home."

Police located the teen and brought her before a juvenile court judge, who sentenced her to two months confinement on previous offenses, Grogan said.

Norcross police have not lodged any additional charges, he said.
