NORCROSS — An apparent accidental fire caused moderate damage to a Kentucky Fried Chicken location in Norcross on Monday afternoon.
Gwinnett County firefighters responded to the KFC at 1635 Indian Trail-Lilburn Road at about 1:40 p.m., finding flames inside an exterior wall and adjacent landscaping, spokesman Capt. Tommy Rutledge said. “Patrons and employees evacuated the restaurant and called 911 after smelling smoke,” Rutledge said. They were also able to use a portable fire extinguisher to help douse the flames as they awaited firefighters. The fire caused moderate damage to the exterior wall and sent thick smoke throughout the restaurant, Rutledge said. Officials believe the blaze to have been accidental, originating outside the restaurant. The exact cause was undetermined Monday, Rutledge said.More like this story
