MLB.com and Fox's Atlanta affiliate are both reporting what may be the worst-kept secret in baseball -- that Fredi Gonzales, who was fired by the Florida Marlins this season, will be named the successor to retired manager Bobby Cox.
One interesting note is Florida was the only team that didn't give Cox any type of recognition or gift on his last visit to their ballpark in Miami, which came after his friend Gonzales was terminated. Gonzales spent several seasons as Cox's bench coach in Atlanta before taking the Marlins' managerial reins. The announcement could come Thursday.More like this story
