LAWRENCEVILLE -- A Saturday morning crash killed a Lawrenceville man and left a child in critical condition, police said Monday.
The two-car collision happened about 11:50 a.m. at the intersection of Old Norcross and Cruse roads near Lawrenceville, police said.
Investigators believe the crash happened when Wykelia Robinson, 28, who was driving a 2002 Ford Explorer south on Cruse Road, failed to stop at a red light at the intersection.
Robinson struck a 2001 Saab 93SE being driven eastbound on Old Norcross Road by Andrius Nikolaychuk, 18.
Nikolaychuk died at the scene. His 7-year-old passenger was transported to Egleston Children's Hospital in Atlanta and remains in critical condition, said Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Edwin Ritter.
Robinson, of Norcross, was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville for treatment of injuries that weren't life-threatening.
Robinson's two children were passengers in her vehicle. They were transported to Scottish Rite Children's Hospital with injuries that weren't life-threatening, Ritter said.
There's no indication that drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash, but Ritter said charges are pending in the ongoing investigation.
