LAWRENCEVILLE -- Work will continue this week on the Interstate 85 HOT lanes project, with overnight lane closures scheduled.
According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, the toll lane conversion project's contractor World Fiber Technologies will close the outside lane of I-85 northbound from Pleasant Hill Road to Ga. Highway 316. The work is scheduled nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday.
"If the weather cooperates, crews will continue boring under the interstate to run the hundreds of miles of conduit needed for the technology that will operate the Express Lane system," said Georgia DOT district construction engineer Randall Davis.
This is the second week of lane closures for the $11.7 million project to install 16 miles of fiber and signage to allow for toll-access to the current high-occupancy vehicle lanes.
