PREP ROUNDUP: Duluth sinks Northview at buzzer

DULUTH — Duluth’s Zane Cobb hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer Tuesday night to lift the Wildcats 73-72 in overtime over Northview for the Wildcats’ first victory of the season.

Avonte Hall scored 24 to lead Duluth (1-5), while Cobb finished with 18 points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Shiloh 63, Meadowcreek 60

SNELLVILLE — Shiloh’s Devonte Taylor put in 16 points Tuesday as Shiloh edged Meadowcreek 63-60.

Tyler Gordon followed with 12 points for Shiloh (1-2), while Stedmon Lemon, Brian Thompson and Jordan Gaither added to Shiloh’s balance with eight points each.

Jordan Capps scored 16 to lead Meadowcreek with Troidell Carter scoring 12 points.

Grayson 62, Mountain View 61

LAWRENCEVILLE — Grayson erased an 11-point deficit in the third quarter to bounce back for a 62-61 win over Mountain View on Tuesday.

Kenny Lockett scored 16 to lead Grayson (1-0), while Calvin Espeut followed with 14 points.

Peachtree Ridge 50,

Dacula 39

SUWANEE — Peachtree Ridge improved to 3-1 on Tuesday with a 50-39 win over Dacula.

Leading the Lions in scoring were Richie Everette with 18 points and Corey Heyward with 15.

Dacula was led by nine points from Dexter Walker.

South 74, North 61

SUWANEE — South Gwinnett handed North Gwinnett its first loss of the season with a 74-61 win over the Bulldogs on Tuesday.

Two Comets (3-0) had double-doubles with one from Qiydar Davis with 21 points and 11 rebounds and Logan Adams with 20 points and 12 boards.

North (3-1) received 15 points from A.J. Clements and 13 points from Ryon Riggins.

Kennesaw Mountain 77, Brookwood 60

SNELLVILLE — Brookwood had three players score in double-digits Tuesday but Kennesaw Mountain proved to be too much as the Broncos fell 77-60.

Thomas Higginbotham scored 18 to lead Brookwood (0-3), while Malcolm Hannah scored 11 with Alex Drag finishing with 10 points.

Central 65, Winder-Barrow 48

LAWRENCEVILLE — Central Gwinnett led 31-19 at the half and never let up as the Black Knights topped Winder-Barrow 65-48 on Tuesday.

Top scorers for Central (2-0) were Simeon Dennis with 16 points, Brian Egejuru with 15 points and Slim Delbridge with 10 points.

Mill Creek 64, Marietta 55

MARIETTA — Ron Wamer poured in 28 points Tuesday night to lead Mill Creek 64-55 over Marietta.

Paul Evans added 11 points for the Hawks (2-1), while Daniel Loudermilk led the team in rebounds with 14.

Apalachee 44, East Jackson 37

WINDER — Rakim Peters scored 10 points Tuesday night as Apalachee knocked off East Jackson 44-37.

Cameron Blakley added eight points with nine blocks for Apalachee (1-1), while Jermaine Smith chipped in with eight points, including 3 of 4 free throws in the final minute. East Jackson fell to 3-1.

Wesleyan 96, AIS 54

ATLANTA — Wesleyan just missed the century mark Tuesday as the Wolves topped Atlanta International School 96-54.

Leading the Wolves (4-0) in scoring were Ty Teague with 29 points, Shane Smith with 18, Takim Williams with 13 and Will Clifton with 11.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Mountain View 54, Grayson 33

LAWRENCEVILLE — Mountain View received 15 points from Emery Buckner as the Bears pulled away from Grayson for a 54-33 win Tuesday night.

Tynisha Bledsoe and Ivey Franklin each added 10 points as Mountain View improved to 1-3. Grayson (0-4) was led by Cortney Lee’s 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Mill Creek 50, Marietta 49

MARIETTA — Mill Creek improved to 2-1 on Tuesday as the Hawks nipped Marietta 50-49.

Jasmine Carter scored 24 to lead Mill Creek, while Alesia Fagin added 12 points and six steals.

Duluth 56, Northview 38

DULUTH — Duluth’s Joi Jones had a big game with 20 points Tuesday as the Wildcats pushed their record to 6-0 with a 56-38 win over Northview.

Kayla Nolan added 17 points for Duluth.

Winder-Barrow 55, Central 51

LAWRENCEVILLE — Brittany Witt of Winder-Barrow led all players with 18 points Tuesday as the Bulldoggs held on to top Central Gwinnett 55-51.

Central (1-2) had three players in double digits, with 14 points from Nia Hardy, 13 by Taja Latimore and 11 from Caryn Ivey.

Central’s upcoming game Friday with Brookwood has been rescheduled to Thursday at Central at 6 p.m.

Parkview 52, Centennial 24

ROSWELL — Parkview ran its record to 4-1 on Tuesday as it defeated Centennial 52-24.

Leading the Panthers was Erika Joseph with 14 points. Kelsie Stanton followed with 12 points, while Katie Carroll scored 10 in the win.

Brookwood 62, Kennesaw Mountain 30

SNELLVILLE — Jazmine Jackson was one of four Broncos in double-digits with 15 points Tuesday as Brookwood cruised to a 62-30 win over Kennesaw Mountain.

Katie Mallow added 11 points for the Broncos (3-0), while Courtney Garnder and Rebecca Walker each scored 10. Brookwood also received a solid defensive effort by holding Kennesaw Mountain to eight points in the second half, including a scoreless third quarter.

Brookwood’s upcoming game on Friday with Central Gwinnett has been rescheduled to Thursday at 6 p.m. at Central.

South 56, North 53

SUWANEE — South Gwinnett’s Tina Odume delivered 16 points and 10 rebounds Tuesday in helping the Comets to their first win of the season 56-53 over North Gwinnett.

South (1-3), which also received 10 points and nine boards from Danielle Blount, hit 20 of 25 free throws to help hold off the Bulldogs.

North was led by a game-high 21 points from Ariel Johnson and 10 points from Annie Wheeler.

Peachtree Ridge 55, Dacula 33

SUWANEE — Peachtree Ridge evened its record at 2-2 on Tuesday with a 55-33 win over Dacula.

Leading the Lions was Lorrie Cruse with 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Also helping in the win were Gabby Cole with 12 points and Stephanie Amichia with nine rebounds and seven points.

Wesleyan 84, Loganville 37

LOGANVILLE — Four Wesleyan players scored in double figures, led by 18 points from Holli Wilkins, Tuesday as the Wolves cruised to an 84-37 win over Loganville.

Grace Leah Baughn and Taylor Blackmon each scored 11 for Wesleyan (4-0), while Jordan Frazier chipped in with 10 points.

WRESTLING

GAC downs Westminster

ATLANTA — Greater Atlanta Christian received pins from six different wrestlers Tuesday as the Spartans defeated Westminster 51-18.

Pinfall winners for GAC (4-2) were Carter Clinebell at 112 pounds, Parker Embry at 130, Will Parker at 135, Will Hemby at 140, Parker Fair at 215 and Brayden Long at 285,

Berkmar splits pair of matches

BUFORD — Berkmar won one and lost one Tuesday night, defeating Lanier 54-24 but falling to Flowery Branch 69-12.

Going 2-0 on the night for the Patriots were Landon Dao at 112 points and Justin Malone at 285.

Providence tops St. Francis

ROSWELL — Providence defeated St. Francis on Tuesday 88-54.

Top scorers for the Stars were Will Miller, Ryan Anderson, Alex Keller and Brittany Tuttle.
