None injured in weekend Barrow barn fire

WINDER — Officials said no one was hurt in a weekend barn fire in Barrow County that drew Georgia Forestry Commission workers, who cut a fire break around the burning structure.

Fire crews responded to the 827 Tom Miller Road property in Winder about 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Firefighters encountered a barn full of burning hay that had extended to bales of hay outside the structure, said Barrow County Emergency Services spokesman Lt. Scott Dakin.

The barn was destroyed, but fire crews were able to keep the blaze from spreading to another barn nearby, Dakin said.

The exact cause is being investigated by the Fire Investigation Unit and the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office, Dakin said.
