NORCROSS — A Norcross man escaped tragedy after his vehicle got stuck on railroad tracks Thursday night.
Gwinnett County Police responded to the intersection of Jones Mill Road and Buford Highway just before 7:30 p.m. There, 23-year-old Jian Shi reported that he had “mistakenly turned onto the train tracks and gotten his vehicle stuck,” police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said.
After the initial officer responded to the scene, another en route radioed ahead to alert them that a train was headed toward the intersection.
Everyone on scene was able to move away from the vehicle before a Norfolk Southern train stuck the 2009 Honda CRV at 7:36 p.m., Smith said.
No injuries were reported.
The driver was issued a citation for stopping on railroad tracks.
