LAWRENCEVILLE — Construction will take a break for the Thanksgiving holiday, but Interstate 85 drivers will have to worry about the express lanes project until then.
Work will continue on the high occupancy toll lanes conversion from Chamblee-Tucker Road to Old Peachtree Road, officials said, with overnight work requiring the closing of the outside I-85 northbound lane for directional boring from 10 a.m. to 5 a.m. until Wednesday.
Monday, crews will work from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the outside lane of Dawson Boulevard, a parallel access road, for guardrail installation from Pleasantdale Road to Jimmy Carter Boulevard.
No lane closures will occur over the long weekend from 5 a.m. Wednesday to midnight Sunday, Georgia Department of Transportation officials said.
“Enjoy the Thanksgiving break from lane closures,” said DOT construction engineer Randall Davis. “Please remember to slow down and limit distractions while you drive. Lane closures will resume after the holiday.”
