NORCROSS — An outdoor fireplace could be to blame in a Saturday night fire at a large home in the 5100 block of Creek Walk Circle N.W. in Norcross, officials said.
Residents and neighbors reported fire and smoke issuing from the home’s roof about 10:25 p.m. The roughly 6,000-square-foot structure is located in the Reserve at East Jones Bridge subdivision in Peachtree Corners, said Fire Department spokesman Capt. Thomas Rutledge. Crews rendered the fire under control about midnight, but not before it caused significant damage to the structure and contents, Rutledge said. The blaze may have originated from a fire burning in an outdoor fireplace on the backside of the house. The occupants were outside sitting around the fireplace when they noticed fire and smoke from the roof, Rutledge said. The exact cause of the two-alarm fire is under investigation, Rutledge said.More like this story
