DACULA — Gwinnett police on Monday said charges are possible in the ongoing investigation of a bicyclist’s death near Dacula last week.
Police identified the cyclist, struck by two vehicles about 5 p.m. Thursday, as Brian Leech, 48, of Dacula. Investigators believe Leech was traveling west on Old Fountain Road, between Apalachee Run Trail and Old Peachtree Road, when a westbound GMC Envoy struck him, police said. Leech was ejected from the bike, and the driver of a Honda CR-V headed in the same direction was unable to avoid striking him, police said. Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Edwin Ritter said Leech was riding close to the right edge of the roadway when he was struck. He died at the scene. No other drivers reported injuries. Ritter said neither alcohol nor speed were contributing factors, but charges could be forthcoming as the investigation moves forward.More like this story
