Mill Creek senior Brandon Hayman, who had options to play basketball or football at the college level, has signed with the Samford (Ala.) men’s basketball program.
Hayman, a McDonald’s All-American Game nominee, averaged 12 points and 4.1 assists as a junior for the Hawks. A wide receiver for the Hawks’ playoff football team, he currently has 43 catches for 767 yards and six touchdowns.
Hawks’ Creed chooses Bulldogs
Mill Creek senior Sommers Creed made a commitment this week to swim for the University of Georgia. She is the daughter of Rick and Heidi Creed.
Creed is a 10-time high school All-American and a two-time state champion. She currently holds six school records and one Gwinnett County record.
Broncos’ Perry commits to UGA
Brookwood senior Sarah Perry has committed to the University of Georgia’s cross country and track and field teams as a distance runner.
Perry was the Region 8-AAAAA champion in the 800-meter run as a junior and was the region runner-up in the 1,600. She was third at state in the 1,600 in 5 minutes, 5.15 seconds, which is the fourth-fastest time in school history. She also helped the Broncos’ cross country team place second, third and fourth at the past three state meets.
Stars’ Skinner signs with Columbus State
Providence Christian senior Alan Skinner has signed a letter of intent to play baseball for Columbus State University. He is the son of Tom and Lisa Skinner.
A three-year varsity baseball and basketball player, Skinner was a second-team all-county selection by the Daily Post as a junior when he hit .425 with two home runs and 40 RBIs. He was recruited by Columbus State as a pitcher.
Dacula’s Miller, Hunt earn All-American honors
Dacula grads Frankie Miller and Noah Hunt were named preseason All-Americans by WIN wrestling magazine.
Miller, a University of Georgia student, is ranked No. 1 at 125 pounds in NWCA. Hunt, who attends Cumberland University, is ranked the No. 5 wrestler at 125 in the NAIA.
