HOSCHTON — A 48-year-old Buford man died when he lost control of his truck on Hog Mountain Road in Hoschton this week, police said Thursday.
Joe Archer was eastbound in his 1998 GMC Sonoma when he lost control near Pine Road about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said. The truck crossed the roadway, struck a curb and overturned, ejecting Archer, said Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Brian Kelly. Archer died at the scene. Investigators have determined that Archer was not wearing a seat belt and that alcohol could have contributed to the crash, Kelly said. Kelly pointed to statistics that suggest seat-belt use saves lives. According to Gwinnett police accident investigation unit data, about 45 percent of people killed in 2009 vehicle crashes were not wearing seat belts, he said.More like this story
