Police: Buford man tries to seduce 12-year-old boy

BUFORD — A former instructor at a Buford martial arts studio is in jail after officials say he attempted to seduce a young male student into sexual activity.

According to a report from Gwinnett County Police, 25-year-old Chris Rashard Stringer was an assistant instructor at the Choi Kwang-Do facility at 1625 Buford Highway when he called a 12-year-old pupil into the restroom during a training session.

During that encounter on the evening of Sept. 16, Stringer reportedly propositioned the boy.

The boy told his mother that he had no physical contact with Stringer and “simply said no to the request.” The boy did not mention it as his mother picked him up at the studio, only bringing it up as he was getting ready for bed that night, police said.

Police issued a warrant for Stringer’s arrest on Oct. 7. The Bona Road resident was taken into custody on one felony charge of enticing a child for indecent purposes just after 10 p.m. Tuesday, jail records show.

Stringer had not posted $11,200 bond as of Wednesday evening. Special bond conditions in his warrant would mandate he stay away from the victim and “any other minor child other than a relative” upon being released.

Attempts to reach the Choi Kwang-Do studio for comment Wednesday were unsuccessful. Its website does not list Stringer among its other instructors.
