LAWRENCEVILLE — Police have arrested one suspect they believe played a role in helping pass $3,200 in counterfeit bills at a local retailer last week.

Ave Marshall, 31, of Duluth was arrested on one charge of forgery Tuesday after officials identified her as part of a duo that used fake cash to purchase electronics at a Duluth Target store last Tuesday.

According to Gwinnett County police, Marshall and a male counterpart entered the Target on Venture Drive at approximately 7:20 p.m. that night, buying several electronic items, including a pair of large flat screen TVs.

They reportedly paid for the items using 32 fake $100 bills. Police said they altered $5 bills to make them appear as the higher denomination cash.

Marshall had not posted bond as of Wednesday evening.

The still unidentified male suspect is described as black, approximately 6-foot-2 and 250 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black coat and a black Washington Redskins hat.
