LAWRENCEVILLE — A 19-year-old Lithonia man was arrested Sunday on felony charges stemming from a June incident in which he allegedly had sex with a 12-year-old Lawrenceville girl.
According to officials, the girl received a phone call from an old friend asking to come see her, and she obliged. The friend and two male counterparts showed up at the Hillridge Drive home at about 2:30 a.m. on June 25. “The daughter then let them into her and her mother’s room via the bedroom window,” a police report read. While there, the trio reportedly stole a computer and cell phone, a crime that was initially the chief concern of the mother — until her daughter told her she and 19-year-old Donell Melton had sex that night. Originally provided a perversion of Melton’s real name (Llenod Milton), Lawrenceville police eventually solved the riddle, issuing a warrant for his arrest on Oct. 12. Gwinnett County Jail records show he was booked Sunday and charged with statutory rape, child molestation and burglary, all felonies. As of Monday evening, Melton had not posted the $83,100 bond needed for his release.More like this story
