BUFORD -- A Dacula man is scheduled to face a judge this morning on charges he spied on a woman in the bathroom of a Taco Mac restaurant, then assaulted her when confronted, police said.
Grant Scherruble, 31, remains jailed without bond on charges of felony Peeping Tom and misdemeanor simple assault in the Thursday arrest.
Gwinnett police responded to a distress call about 2 a.m. that morning at a Taco Mac restaurant and bar near the Mall of Georgia.
A 22-year-old Flowery Branch woman told police that Scherruble followed her into the women's restroom, watched her from beneath the bathroom stall, then tried to spit on her and threatened to shoot her when confronted in the parking lot, according to a police report.
A responding officer noted that Scherruble appeared intoxicated at the scene. The alleged victim "was crying and almost hysterical over the incident," an officer wrote.
Scherruble struggled with police while being arrested, and later admitted to entering the women's restroom, the report says.
The arresting officer requested that a judge not grant Scherruble bond because he seemed intent on contacting the alleged victim in an effort to have the charges dropped, the report says.
A probable cause hearing for Scherruble, where the bond amount could be adjusted, is scheduled this morning in Gwinnett Magistrate Court.
