LOGANVILLE -- Police are investigating an act of vandalism that left several windows broken early Monday morning at Grayson High School, officials said.

The incident happened about 2 a.m. Monday, said Jorge Quintana, a spokesman for Gwinnett County Public Schools. It appears the windows were shot out with a weapon.

This was the second act of vandalism carried out at Grayson High School in less than a week, but Quintana said officials do not believe the two incidents are related.

The first incident happened Thursday, before Grayson's rivalry game against Brookwood, Quintana said. In that case, parts of the school and the pavement leading into campus were painted with messages cheering on Brookwood. Additionally, yard signs were posted on the football field.

"While Gwinnett County high schools encourage school spirit and support for our athletic teams, this was not an appropriate demonstration of that support," Grayson principal David Hopson wrote in a message posted on the school's website. 'We worked diligently on Friday and throughout the weekend to clean up the damage to our campus."

Quintana said 15 students from Brookwood were cited with disorderly conduct and disciplined by the school as a result of Thursday's vandalism. He said all of the students were either 17 or 18 years old.
