LAWRENCEVILLE -- Construction will begin at Rhodes Jordan Park this week, making part of the park's attractions closed to the public through the summer of 2011.
The playgrounds around the park's lake, trail and pavilions will be closed until the project is complete, officials said in a press release.
The park will remain open, though, and people can visit the community center, pool and sports fields during the renovation, which includes a one-mile multi-purpose trail and boardwalk around the lake, a new restroom and new parking.
The project also includes replacing the picnic pavilions and the construction of new soccer fields, outdoor basketball courts and horseshoe courts, the release said.
Officials are urging park-goers to be cautious and stay away from the construction zone. Signage will be in place to mark the areas.
The Lawrenceville Senior Center will be unaffected and remain operational. For information about the senior center, call 770-822-5180.
