SUWANEE -- The Suwanee branch of Gwinnett Public Libraries will kick off a series of weeklong guest reader appearances from Gwinnett Braves on Tuesday -- with free game tickets and a chance to throw out the first pitch.
Starting at 11 a.m., children ages 5 to 10 are invited to share in the Summer Reading Kick Off Party. G-Braves pitcher Tim Gustafson and outfielder Matt Young are scheduled to attend, Gwinnett Braves community affairs director Courtney Lawson said.
Additional appearances will be made throughout the week across the county.
Gustafson and a yet-to-be-announced player are scheduled for the Lilburn branch on Thursday, while pitcher Cory Gearrin and another to-be-named G-Brave will be at the Grayson branch the same day.
Gearrin and pitcher James Parr are scheduled to attend reading parties at the Collins Hill branch on Friday.
All readings are restricted to children between ages 5 and 10 and begin at 11 a.m.
All children who complete the summer reading program will be given tickets to a G-Braves game on Aug. 1 or 2, and can participate in a pregame parade, Lawson said.
The library will also pick a child to throw out the first pitch each game.
