Gwinnett Daily Post
Brent Clevlen got his first big-league chance of this season when Matt Diaz went down with an injury.
An injury to Clevlen just re-opened a door for Gregor Blanco.
Atlanta recalled Blanco on Tuesday to fill the spot Clevlen opened when he went to the disabled list with an injured right big toe.
After a slow start, Blanco is hitting .294 with Gwinnett and .364 in his past 10 games. His on-base percentage is .392. Blanco spent all of 2008 in the major leagues before a rough spring kept him in Class AAA for the majority of 2009.
Clevlen was hitting .250 in four at-bats with Atlanta with a double and two-runs scored. With Gwinnett, the former Tigers’ prospect was hitting .259.
Gwinnett filled Blanco’s outfield role with Alex Romero from Class AA Mississippi. The lefty hitter had a .279 average with the M-Braves with eight doubles and 19 RBIs.
The G-Braves are off today before heading to Louisville for four games starting Thursday.
