INDIANAPOLIS — The Gwinnett Braves dropped their fourth straight game, falling 4-3 in Indianapolis on Saturday.
The G-Braves (18-24) are now 0-3 in series openers on the road. Todd Redmond took the loss, giving up four runs (all earned) on six hits while walking none and striking out one in six innings. Gwinnett had virtually no offense until the eighth inning when it scored three runs to cut the Indians lead to one. The G-Braves had the tying run on first base in the ninth, but Freddie Freeman lined into a double play to end the game. Gregor Blanco went 2-for-4 and extended his hitting streak to eight games. Jordan Schafer went 1-for-4 with an RBI. Brandon Hicks went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Matt Young finished 1-for-4 with a triple. Brad Lincoln got the win and ceded just two hits to Gwinnett before the eighth. The Braves and the Indians continue the four-game series in Indianapolis at 2 p.m. today. LHP Jose Ortegano (1-0, 3.00 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Braves. Indianapolis will start RHP Donnie Veal (3-2, 4.23 ERA).More like this story
