Bus driver spots house fire, calls 911

LAWRENCEVILLE — A school bus driver spotted and reported a Friday morning house fire in Lawrenceville that sent one woman to the hospital for evaluation, officials said.

The fire, reported at 8:55 a.m., damaged a two-story home in the 1200 block of Wetlands Court. Firefighters had it under control in about 30 minutes, said Fire Department spokesman Capt. Thomas Rutledge.

One woman was home at the time and was outside when the fire department arrived. She was transported to Eastside Medical Center in Snellville for evaluation of minor exposure to smoke, Rutledge said.

The fire caused significant damage to the contents on the main level and sent smoke and heat throughout the structure. The fire appears to have originated on the main level, Rutledge said.

The exact cause is under investigation.
