The city of Duluth will usher in the sounds of summer this weekend.
The Duluth SummerStage Concert Series will open Saturday on the Town Green with headlining group The Blast Band.
The Duluth-based party band, formed in 1996 by co-founders Kris Tonner and Rick Sanford, will make its debut as a featured act in the annual summer series, playing tunes that include "Brown Eyed Girl," "Play that Funky Music," "Sweet Home Alabama," "Mustang Sally" and more.
"Rock, blues, funk, soul, covers, original tunes, jingles, theme songs, we do it all," Sanford said. "Satisfaction always guaranteed."
Opening for The Blast Band will be Gwinnett's own rising R&B singer Stephen Norwood.
Music will begin at 7:30 p.m. and continue until about 9:30. Concert-goers are invited to bring along chairs as well as beer and wine.
Premium tables are also available with up-close seating in front of the amphitheater. Reservation forms for tables are available online at www.duluthga.net or by calling 678-475-3512.
The Duluth SummerStage Concert Series will continue June 26 with locally-based band Deja Vu. For more information on the series, call 770-476-3434 or visit www.duluthga.net.
