Real estate agents participate in service day
BUFORD -- About 73,000 Keller Williams real estate agents are participating in an international day of service day.
The service day, known as RED Day -- Renew, Energize, Donate -- allows Keller Williams agents to give back where they live.
Agents in the Buford Keller Williams office have chosen to do their service project at the Gwinnett Children's Shelter in Buford. The real estate agents and their business partners will be painting, replacing countertops, having roof repairs done, reupholstering furniture, cleaning carpets and more.

Lyles was honored for founding a nonprofit student volunteer organization dedicated to meeting the needs of impoverished children across Georgia.

Head-shaving to raise money for childhood cancer research
LAWRENCEVILLE -- The St. Baldrick's Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising money for childhood cancer research, has issued a challenge to everyone who wants to help raise money for childhood cancer research: Be a hero for kids with cancer by shaving your head in return for pledges of financial support from friends and family.
A local event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Empire State Pizza and Dogs at 2948 Five Forks-Trickum Road in Lawrenceville. The event will also feature food, music, a silent auction and activities.
There will be a small cover charge for the event. All proceeds -- everything from the food to the auction -- will be donated. You do not need to shave your head to come to the event.
