LAWRENCEVILLE — As its annual "Nurses Week" comes to an end today, Gwinnett Medical Center has named nurses of the year from its Lawrenceville and Duluth campuses.
In a selection process that began with co-worker nominations and voting, GMC named neonatal intensive care unit nurse Keri Boatright as its recipient from Lawrenceville, and telemetry department nurse Michelle King from Duluth. In addition to her normal duties, Boatright, a five-year veteran of the NICU, helped create the Essential Piece Team, a group that helps to better connect nurses, patient care technicians and respiratory therapists. King, with 19 years of experience in the GMC system, is a "wonderful supervisor, teacher and co-worker," and a member of the Safety and Infection Control Team, GMC spokeswoman Andrea Wehrmann said. "Our nurses are front and center in everything we do at GMC," said Carol Danielson, GMC's chief nursing officer. "They are the backbone of who we are. With competent hands and compassionate hearts, they reliably care for our patients every day."More like this story
