Credit Union donates $10,000 to Red Cross

NORCROSS — Associated Credit Union President and CEO C. Lin Hodges and Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Timothy Bridges recently presented a $10,000 check to the American Red Cross.

The donation, made by the Associated Credit Union Foundation, will be used by the American Red Cross in its Haitian Relief Efforts. Donations support emergency relief and recovery efforts, including deploying personnel and providing food, water and medicine for the victims.

Members of Associated Credit Union and other contributors started donating in January at the financial institution's 32 branch locations.

Associated Credit Union, chartered in 1930, is headquartered in Norcross.

Identity Theft Shred Day scheduled

NORCROSS — An Identity Theft Shred Day, co-sponsored by the Debbie Dykes Allstate Insurance Agency and Shredderman Document Destruction Service of Cumming, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of Dykes' office, located at 6316 Spalding Drive in Norcross.

The event is open to individuals who want to shred personal or business information. Papers will be collected by Shredderman and will be shredded at their off-site location.

Ga. Transplant Foundation hosts fishing tournament

BUFORD — The Georgia Transplant Foundation is hosting its inaugural fishing tournament, "Casting for a Cause," on May 15 at Laurel Park at Lake Lanier.

Advanced registration is $200 per boat or $225 at the dock. All proceeds benefit the Georgia Transplant Foundation, a nonprofit organization providing financial, educational and emotional support to transplant candidates, recipients, living donors and their families throughout the state of Georgia.

The event will feature payout prizes for the top 20 finishers and include a "Big Fish" award, a "Tagged Fish" award sponsored by John Megel Chevrolet and $10,000 in prize money for the team that comes in first place (with a minimum of 150 boats in the field).
