LAWRENCEVILLE-- Georgia Gwinnett College grads will have a U.S. senator as their commencement speaker at the end of the month.
Jack Reed, a Rhode Island Democrat, will deliver his keynote speech in front of 60 expected graduates on May 28 at 7 p.m.
Reed is considered a leader on defense, education and health care issues, and the West Point graduate has been in the U.S. Senate since 1996. Prior to that, he was a three-term member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Reed is also a member of the Armed Services, Appropriations and Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs committees.
This month's commencement will be Georgia Gwinnett College's fifth graduation ceremony since opening in 2006.
