WINDER -- Barrow County Schools has terminated the employment of a bus driver accused of inappropriate conduct with students.
The 30-year-old male school bus driver's employment was terminated Tuesday, following allegations made by the father of a 16-year-old female student at Winder-Barrow High School, officials said. The bus driver's name was not released.
The Winder Police Department and the Barrow County Sheriff's Office are investigating the matter, but the bus driver has not been charged with any criminal offenses.
The allegations are that the bus driver has called several students on their cellular phones and had them listed as friends on social networking sites.
"Barrow County Schools has a zero-tolerance policy for inappropriate conduct with students," said Lisa Leighton, spokeswoman for the school system. "The safety of all our students is our utmost priority and concern. Immediate and swift action was taken as soon as they allegations were made known to us."
