PREP ROUNDUP: Brody picks up save to help Hawks to 10-9 win

HOSCHTON — Greg Brody picked up the save with one out in the seventh inning and went 2-for-3 with a home run with three RBIs to help Mill Creek defeat North Gwinnett 10-9 on Wednesday.

Mason Felt (4-0) threw 41/3 innings and gave up six hits, six earned runs and struck out two batters. Chip Fleming pitched 21/3 innings for the Hawks.

Jerad Curry went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and Casey Parham went 2-for-2 with two doubles, three RBIs and a run for the Hawks (9-1, 2-0).

For North Gwinnett, Nick Jones went 3-for-5 with an RBI, Chad White went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and Jeremy Burns was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, including a double. Nick Jones got the loss after giving up seven earned runs in 11/3 innings for North (5-5, 1-1).

BASEBALL

Collins Hill 11, Duluth 1

SUWANEE — Collins Hill took a 11-1 victory over Duluth on Wednesday.

Trey Marksberry (3-0) gave up five hits, a walk and a run with two strikeouts to register the win for Collins Hill. At the plate, Cameron Starling had a home run, Garritt Church was 3-for-3 with a home run, Spencer Horridge was 2-for-3 with a home run, Chris McGowan was 2-for-4, Morgan Ownbey was 3-for-3 and A.J. Farris went 3-for-3 for the Eagles (8-2, 2-0).

Northview 10, Peachtree Ridge 4

DULUTH — Peachtree Ridge fell to Northview 10-4 on Wednesday.

Jared Walsh was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, Brandon Harwood went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer, while Chase Macon was 2-for-4 and Preston Johnson was 2-for-3 for Peachtree Ridge (6-4, 1-1).

Central 11, Newton 4

LAWRENCEVILLE — C.J. Cronic got the win on the mound after he threw a complete game and only allowed six hits, which helped Central top Newton 11-4 on Wednesday.

At the plate, Cronic went 2-for-3 with a home run. Dustin Hays was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Taylor Fields was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a home run. Anthony Fields went 1-for-2, Chris Sekarak was 1-for-2 with two RBIs, and Brandon White was 1-for-2 with an RBI for the Black Knights (5-6).

Decatur 5, GAC 3

DECATUR — Greater Atlanta Christian fell to Decatur 5-3 on Wednesday.

John LaMay threw six innings, gave up five hits and struck out five for GAC. Taylor Bruner was 1-for-3 with a solo home run, while Robby McPherson went 1-for-3 with a double for the Spartans (4-6, 0-1).

Morgan County 15, Mountain View 12

MADISON — Mountain View fell to Morgan County 15-12 on Wednesday.

Garry Gwaltney was the losing pitcher for Mountain View, but at the plate went 3-for-4. Jacob Bowers was 3-for-5 with four RBIs, Corey Brogdon hit two home runs and Jenard Mosley had a two-run home run for Mountain View.

BOYS TENNIS

Collins Hill 5, Providence 0

SUWANEE — The Eagles shut out Providence 5-0 on Wednesday afternoon.

Ryan Maloney, Chris Clark and Kevin Pfeiffer each earned a point in singles. Tyler Anderson and Tyler Kallgren won No. 1 doubles and Mark Zacharias and Jake Inderrieden collected a win at No. 2 doubles for the Eagles (6-7).

GAC 4, Buford 1

BUFORD — GAC took a 4-1 win over Buford on Wednesday.

Hunter Ragland and Alex Soh each earned a point at singles. Jake Montgomery and David Floyd won No. 1 doubles and Allen Almand and Blake Guy won at No. 2 doubles for GAC. Colby West got the win at No. 1 singles for Buford (7-6).

Parkview 4, Heritage 1

LILBURN — Ethan Motz and Wesley Mendoza each won singles matches for the Panthers to help Parkview take a 4-1 win over Heritage on Wednesday.

Kirk Arza and Tony Tran won at No. 1 doubles, and Patrick Massey and partner Timothy Levengood won at No. 2 doubles for the Panthers.

Brookwood 4, McIntosh 1

SNELLVILLE — Brookwood took a 4-1 win over McIntosh on Wednesday.

Grayson Mills, Randy Phillips and Mark Guentert each got a win at singles matches, while Chris Eastwood and Matthew Shemanski added a point at No. 2 doubles for the Broncos (13-0).

Peachtree Ridge 3, North 2

DULUTH — Eric Caltabiano won No. 1 singles and Alex Makarenko earned a point at No. 3 singles to help Peachtree Ridge beat North Gwinnett 3-2 on Wednesday.

Brock Beisel and partner Max Kennard won No. 2 doubles for the Lions (6-2, 5-2).

Dacula 5, Archer 0

DACULA — Dacula shut out Archer 5-0 Wednesday on senior day.

Winnings singles matches were Kevin Lamberg, Chris Ragan and Blair Kievit and in doubles by Blake Hutchins and Wes Sherwood, and Alex Garman and Alex Ball for Dacula (11-3, 6-2).

Mill Creek 3, St. Pius 2

ATLANTA — Lee Mike Turner and Brad Adkins earned a point apiece in singles matches for Mill Creek as the Hawks took a 3-2 victory over St. Pius on Wednesday.

Quentin Lavender and Adam Gonterman won No. 1 doubles for Mill Creek (7-5).

Wesleyan 3, Dunwoody 2

NORCROSS — Wesleyan beat Dunwoody 3-2 on Wednesday afternoon.

Norman Chang and Jeffery Chang picked up wins in their singles matches, while Ryan Robinson and Zack Taylor won No. 1 doubles for the Wolves (6-2).

Cedar Shoals 3, Apalachee 2

WINDER — Apalachee fell to Cedar Shoals 3-2 on Wednesday.

Collecting wins at doubles matches were Jamie Heglund with partner Pheng Vue, and Aaron Brown and Michael Duchense who won at No. 2 doubles for Apalachee (4-6, 2-4).

GAC 4, Buford 1

BUFORD — Morgan Winston and Melissa Puntkattalee won singles matches as Greater Atlanta Christian topped Buford 4-1 on Wednesday.

Rebecca Gray and Jessica Tuggle earned a win at No. 1 doubles, while Rachel Gray and Jacqueline Tate picked up a win at No. 2 doubles for the Spartans.

Jancy Burge won No. 2 singles for Buford (8-6).

Collins Hill 5, Providence 0

SUWANEE — Collins Hill shut out Providence 5-0 on Wednesday.

Winning singles matches were Erin Ensley, Emily Flood and Abbie Wehr. Caitlin Troke and Megan Gorham won No. 1 doubles, while Anna Del Villar and partner Alina Tibavinsky added a win at No. 2 doubles for the Eagles (6-7, 1-4).

SNELLVILLE — Brookwood shut down McIntosh 5-0 on Wednesday.

Jordan Johnston, Leah Pridgeon and Gabbie Griffith collected points from singles matches. Winning at doubles were Keelie Denson and Molly McClintock at No. 1 doubles and Katie Hedlund and Katie Turner at No. 2 doubles for the Broncos (11-2, 6-1).

Heritage 4, Parkview 1

LILBURN — Anna Fluevog and Megan Nelms won No. 1 doubles for the Panthers, but Parkview fell to Heritage 4-1 on Wednesday.

GRAYSON — Grayson shut out Alcovy 5-0 on Wednesday.

Picking up wins in singles matches were Alex Clay, Sharon Kim and Alexis Lee. Winning doubles matches were Holly Craig and Caitlin Smith and at No. 2 doubles Kristi Cheesman and Maggie Rice for the Rams (13-0, 8-0).

Peachtree Ridge 4, North 1

SUWANEE — Jessica Northcutt and Abby Owens earned wins at singles matches to help the Lions beat North 4-1 on Wednesday afternoon.

Rachel Anderson and Taylor Cohen won at No. 1 doubles and at No. 2 doubles Charlotte Greenwood and partner Erin Mills won for Peachtree Ridge (8-0, 7-0)

Mill Creek 3, St. Pius 2

ATLANTA — Mallory Kolts won No. 3 singles to help Mill Creek beat St. Pius 3-2 on Wednesday afternoon.

Stacy Mottesheard and Kristy Yau won their doubles match, while Cailey Stevens and Lauren Atkinson earned a win at No. 2 doubles for Mill Creek (12-2).

Wesleyan 5, Dunwoody 0

DUNWOODY — Sally Robertson, Megan Kelly and Caroline Nelson each earned a point in singles matches to help Wesleyan defeat Dunwoody 5-0 on Wednesday.

Julie Rodriguez and Catherine Sutcliff won No. 1 doubles and Logan Morris and Erin Hall won No. 2 doubles for the Wolves.

SNELLVILLE — Allie Grtachnik and Laura Goodwin each scored two goals to help the Broncos shut out South Gwinnett 7-0 on Wednesday.

Joy Pianka, Washida Blackman and Krista Barikos added a goal apiece for Brookwood. Taylor Strickland recorded the shutout in goal for the Broncos (7-1).

SUWANEE — Danielle Vincent scored two goals and Casey Burd registered 12 saves in goal for the Eagles, but Collins Hill fell to Chattahoochee 21-2 on Wednesday.

NORCROSS — Kennington Groff led with four goals and Natalie Genthert scored three goals to help Wesleyan (4-1) take a 19-2 win over Darlington on Wednesday.

Johns Creek 20, Peachtree Ridge 16

SUWANEE — Peachtree Ridge fell to Johns Creek 20-16 on Wednesday.

Jennifer Hennelly led Peachtree Ridge with six goals and had two assists, while Caitlin Palanza added three goals for the Lions (1-1).

Buford 159, Commerce 181

BUFORD — Buford defeated Commerce 159-181 on Wednesday at Legacy on Lanier.

Patrick Hall was the low scorer with 37, followed by Jake Mitchell and Joey Dando who both shot a 39 for the Wolves (3-2).

GIRLS GOLF

Dacula wins three-way match

DACULA — In a three-way match on Wednesday, Dacula won with a low score of 106, with Grayson coming in second with a 107, and South Gwinnett scored 125.

Shian Pool was the match's low scorer with a 49 for Grayson.

Buford 111, Commerce 133

BUFORD — Bailey Burnette was the low medalist with a 53 to help Buford (3-2) top Commerce 111-133 on Wednesday at Legacy on Lanier.

Collins Hill 81, North 90

SUWANEE — Collins Hill beat North Gwinnett 81-90 on Wednesday at Bear's Best.

Lauren Court shot a 37 for the Eagles, and Ellyn Kievet shot a 41 for North.
