Retirement community to host workshop

LAWRENCEVILLE — Retired veterans and their families are invited to attend an educational seminar titled "VA Benefits: What you need to know," hosted by The Lloyd Group Inc., a retirement planning and asset preservation firm based in Suwanee.

The seminar will be offered at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Garden Plaza at Lawrenceville, a senior living community located at 230 Collins Industrial Way in Lawrenceville.

The event will be presented by Mark Lloyd, president and founder of The Lloyd Group, and host of "Focus on Your Retirement," a weekly radio program devoted to helping retirees in the greater Atlanta area protect their assets.

During the presentation, Lloyd will educate attendees on what is happening now with aging veterans getting the benefits they deserve and provide helpful information regarding additional VA benefits that are available specifically for veterans who may require in care assisted living facilities.

Lloyd is a certified estate planner and a registered financial consultant. He offers more than 18 years of experience in all financial and insurance matters involving the soon-to-be retired and currently retired population.

Bass Pro Shops plans Easter activities

LAWRENCEVILLE — Families are invited to participate in free Easter activities taking place Saturday through April 4 at Bass Pro Shops at Discover Mills Mall.

Pictures may be taken with the Easter Bunny between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and April 3 and 4, as well as 6 to 8 p.m. Monday through April 2. Families will receive a free 4-by-6 picture.

An old-fashioned Easter egg hunt for children ages 8 and under will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, as well as April 3 and 4.

Children can also enjoy crafts such as making their own Easter sun catcher beginning at noon Saturday and Sunday. Kids can make Easter decorations beginning at 6 p.m. April 1 and noon April 3 and 4, while supplies last.

Volunteers needed for Prayer on the Square

LAWRENCEVILLE —Organizers are looking for volunteers for the 2010 Lawrenceville Prayer on the Square.

There are numerous volunteer opportunities for people to join the team. The local event for the annual National Day of Prayer will be held at 7 p.m. May 6 at the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse.
