LOGANVILLE -- A former McConnell Middle School administrator has been tapped to lead the school once the current principal leaves for a job in the county office.
The Gwinnett County Board of Education recently approved the appointment of Clent Chatham as principal of McConnell Middle School. His new role is effective May 1, according to a news release.
Chatham currently serves as an assistant principal at Bay Creek Middle School, but before transferring to the new school, Chatham served as an assistant principal at McConnell for four years. Before that, he was a mathematics teacher at the Loganville school. He began his career in education in 1994 at Snellville Middle.
Chatham is a graduate of the school system's Quality-Plus Leader Academy, a training program for aspiring school principals. He has a specialist's in educational leadership from Lincoln Memorial University.
McConnell's current principal, Paula Everett-Truppi, has been selected to lead the department of special education and psychological services following the retirement of Susan White.
