Ruth Bowman

Lois Ruth Bowman, 82 of Snellville, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, March 14, 2010. Ruth was born October 26, 1927 to her late parents, Early Nathaniel Rawlins and Alice Stovall Rawlins. She was proceeded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Andrew D. Bowman, Sr.; her brother, J.R. Rawlins and sister-in-law Gloria Richardson Rawlins. She is survived by her Sons and Daughters-in-law: David and Linda Bowman of Stone Mountain, Danny and Donna Bowman of Loganville, Daughter and Son-in-law: Beverly and Richard Garner of Monroe; six grandsons; thirteen great-grandchildren; Sisters: Frances Rawlins and Celia Rawlins both of Snellville; Sister-in-law and brother-in-law Edna and Harvey Myers of Social Circle; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends and loved ones. A life-long resident of metro Atlanta, Ruth attended Cooper Street School and Commercial High School in Atlanta, spending most of her adult years as a homemaker and supporter of family members endeavors as a Cub Scout den mother, sports “Team Mom”, PTA volunteer and youth activity leader for church functions. She was an avid league bowler and spent several years with Andrew in the Georgia Sunshine Cloggers dance group. A great deal of her senior years were spent attending and supporting her grandsons and great-grandchildren in their academic and sports activities, which brought her much joy. Ruth and Andrew lived in Clarkston raising their children for eighteen years. They moved to Snellville in 1967 and became active participants in the growth of that community. Ruth was a faithful and active Christian, serving at times, Clarkston Baptist Church, Snellville First Baptist, and from it's beginning Sunrise Baptist Church where she spent many years as a teacher/leader for the Awanas Club. Ruth was formerly President of the Bowman Electric, Inc. from 1973 until retiring in 1992. Her gentle spirit and loving, caring way will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held 11 AM March 17, 2010 at Sunrise Baptist Church, Snellville. Burial Friendship Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Lawrenceville.
