LAWRENCEVILLE -- Residents can help clean up their community and possibly win a prize for their efforts.
Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful is coordinating the annual Great American Clean Up event with a challenge beginning Wednesday.
Participants can choose at least one activity, recruit volunteers and resources and share before and after photos to compete for the cash prizes.
Projects can range from collecting recyclables to deliver to the Recycling Bank of Gwinnett, donating used cell phones or gently used clothing, organizing a litter cleanup in your neighborhood or at work, adopting a road, planning trees and flowers or organizing a graffiti paint-out.
The winner of the contest, which runs through May 1, will receive $1,000, with second place taking $500 and third place $250. Winning entries will also be posted on the organization's Web site at www.gwinnettcb.org.
For questions or entry information, call 770-822-5187 or e-mail gwinnettcb@gwinnettcb.org.
