Cops investigate deadly home dispute

BUFORD -- According to Gwinnett police, a domestic dispute apparently turned deadly Wednesday.

Gwinnett police spokesman Officer Brian Kelly said officers responded to the 1800 block of Charleston Oak Circle after receiving a 911 call. That's when they found a man, who was unidentified at press time, dead inside the home from apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

"At this point it appears an intoxicated male engaged in some form of physical altercation or argument with his spouse," Kelly said "At some point a gun was produced. The spouse attempted to render the firearm useless and fled the residence."

Kelly said that despite preliminary findings, the police department and the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner's Office will continue to investigate the incident.
