DULUTH On March 27, Gwinnett Medical Center Duluth will host the fourth annual Gwinnett County High School Sports Medicine Symposium at the GHS Resource Center.
The symposium will offer comprehensive insight into the sports medicine field and is designed for high school students considering careers in athletic training or physical therapy. It will feature entry-level topics such as taping, wrapping and splinting. More advanced topics include injury prevention, injury assessment, injury recognition, CPR and automated external defibrillator use. Presenters will include Dr. Gary Levengood, Sports Medicine South; Dr. Yvonne Satterwhite, Resurgens; physical therapist Gina Lee of Gwinnett SportsRehab; and athletic trainers Mindy Simmons and Tim Simmons. The cost is $10 and will include a Dri-Fit T-shirt, lunch and a comprehensive manual of the day's events. The symposium will begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at 4 p.m. It will be held at the GHS Resource Center at 665 Duluth Highway, Lawrenceville.
