LILBURN -- "Lilburn, Georgia: Small Town, Big Difference," is the city's new theme/tagline, as unveiled by the City Council on Monday night along with a new logo to celebrate its centennial this year.
"We felt it was time for the city to have a logo and tagline to describe what we're about," said City Councilman Johnny Crist.
Crist said the same company who came up with the Chick-fil-A cow advertising campaign designed the logo, working with a committee of 15 city residents.
"We have a real small town, but with a real future," he said, adding that it's hoped the logo will be around for a number of years.
The city formerly used a government-type seal stating that Lilburn was founded in 1910.
In other business, the Council approved a change order increase of $74,103 to update Phase II of the Greenway Trail. The recent flooding caused the project to go over its original projection, but it still stayed under budget.
"We're offering more public space for people to walk on," Crist said. The new path extends the trail from City Hall to Killian Hill Road, and includes a connecting spur.
The council also:
* Approved the placement of two stop signs at the corner of Springwood Drive and Candy Lane.
* Adopted an agreement between the city and the Downtown Development Authority involving the purchase of property, loan amounts and repayment terms.
* OK'ed the application of A&1 Taxi Cab for a business license pending completion of certain conditions.
