Caray out as G-Braves TV broadcaster

Josh Caray won't be back as the play-by-play television announcer for the Gwinnett Braves' 25 games on CSS this season.

It was announced on Thursday that veteran broadcaster Mike Morgan will call the games this year, working with analyst Brian Jordan.

The pair also will work the four Atlanta Braves exhibition games on CSS this spring.

Morgan is the TV voice of the Carolina Panthers for NFL preseason games and calls college football, basketball and baseball for various networks, including ESPN, ESPNU and Fox Sports South. He broadcast South Carolina baseball, basketball and football on radio and TV for 10 years.

Morgan's only previous experience doing minor league baseball was as a radio broadcaster in Columbus. He did the games of the old Columbus RedStixx in the Class A South Atlantic League.

Jordan, a former player with the Braves and Falcons, is a Gwinnett resident. He serves as a pregame and postgame analyst for Atlanta Braves games on Fox Sports South and also works college games.

Caray called TV play-by-play for the Gwinnett Braves last season after being the radio broadcaster for the Rome Braves in the South Atlantic League. He is the son of late Atlanta Braves broadcaster Skip Caray and the brother of current Braves TV play-by-play voice Chip Caray.

The G-Braves' radio broadcasters will remain the same this season, with Tony Schiavone doing play-by-play and sharing duties with Parkview grad Judd Hickinbotham for home games. The broadcasts are heard on WDUN-AM.

The G-Braves open their second season at home against Charlotte on April 8.
